Jo Jo's Dictionary

New Jo Jo words of the week-
-fup fops=flip flops
-4 er=4 wheeler
-eye ull=motorcycle
-all sickies=all sticky-this one comes from today when he was in the car eating fruit loops and fruit snacks at the same time for some reason. (Maybe because his mom is a retard). Anyway, we got to the scout shop and he had gooey (possibly because they were sucked on and then spit out) fruit snacks stuck to his fingers like gum and they had some nice crunchy broken pieces of fruit loops stuck to them. So I got out the wipes and told him that he was all sticky, hence "all sickies."

Darth Vader Plays Baseball?

Yesterday it was beautiful out. It was perfect-about 70 degrees or so. We ran a gazillion errands all day so when we finally got home after school, we played outside for a couple of hours. Bubba and JP even did homework out there. Peanut was being so funny. He was getting all of the different aluminum bats out (I think we have 3) and telling me that one was a 3 yard, one a 5 yd. and he needed Bubba's big one because it was an 8 yd. I have no idea what any of that means, but he had the funniest face when he was seriously trying to convince me to let him play with the biggest one, which I did because it really didn't matter. So we have a helmet for when the boys practice at the park, and Bubba used it last season so it would fit him better than the ones they had. Peanut got it out and was wearing it and when he put it down, Mr. Copies Everyone had to put it on. First he had it on the right way, then he kept putting it on backwards. I couldn't stop laughing. It reminded me of that movie "Spaceballs." You know the character Rick Moranis played who was supposed to be a parody of Darth Vader and his helmet was like 30 sizes too big? That's what Jo Jo reminded me of. Then when it was on forward, I thought of a bobble head. All in all, a nice day outside and I even got to read a lot of my book.

Yesterday I got 20 cans of Campbell's Chicken Noodle soup for food storage for $10 at Albertsons. So they were sitting on the floor in our food cupboard under the stairs. It's a favorite past time of Jo Jo's to play with the cans in there. B heard him making noise and turned around and he was sitting on the floor building a fort of cans around himself. When I brought the camera over, he decided to stand up and start taking it down. He won't smile at the camera anymore for me. I'm starting to think he doesn't like the camera anymore:(

Our Weekend

Not the most flattering picture of myself. Especially considering the fact that it's close up and I have the most ginormous zit on my chin. But Bubba was learning how to use a camera to pass off some scout electives-even though he already knew how to use a camera.

So I forgot pre-school on Friday and felt like the biggest moron and worst mom ever. I guess I'm not used to 3 days a week, or even pre-school in general. I also forgot a primary class party for Bubba the day before that he really had wanted to go to. At least I haven't forgotten football practice so the coach doesn't yell at me again. He yelled at me one night for being late and not calling him. I didn't have my cell phone and even if I did, I didn't have his number "plugged" in to it. I seriously almost started crying. Anyway, we had a fun game on Sat. and of course won again. That's 3-0 for any of you keeping track. We were worried because their kids were so much bigger than ours, but B said, "You can either be big or fast, and our team is fast." They only scored 1 touchdown to our 3. My sis and BIL spent the night Fri. so they could come with us since it was at the butt crack of dawn at 8:30 am. We got to go on a date and while we were gone, she taught Jo Jo "pound it" where you stick out your fist and the other person pounds it with theirs. Too cute. We were 15 minutes late to the game and it was almost half time. I was so sad we had already missed 2 touchdowns, but considering the fact that Jo Jo sometimes sleeps in past 9am and I had to wake him up, I think we did pretty good. I also had to wake Peanut. When we don't have to go anywhere and mom wants to sleep in, they wake up early, but when we need to be somewhere early, they pick that day to sleep late.

By the way, did you know that sugar-like cookies and chocolate make everything better? We've gotten in the bad habit of letting Jo Jo have a treat when he freaks out. But he's gotten into throwing tantrums lately and we try everything else-drink, snack, holding him, bop, etc. The only thing that works is a sweet treat. Works like a charm every time-instant silence and happiness:)

Some handsome boys ready for church. Jo Jo saw me take a picture of the other boys and really wanted his picture. He stood completely still and looked up at me, however, he wouldn't smile.

-Cute cute baby boy wearing brother's hat.

For those of you who don't like guns or get scared of them-don't read any further.

Bubba has an oral report to give this Thurs. about himself. He has to fill a paper grocery bag with visuals about himself. The last time we went shooting, (last Sat.) B let him shoot his shotgun. It was completely under adult supervision, and he did NOT do the loading and only got to shoot one time. Bubba couldn't stop talking about it and wanted a picture of himeself doing it for his report, so we took him out last night for one more shot and picture. He is amazingly careful and because of his BB gun shooting, he is well aware of gun safety and must repeat the rules and abide by them each time we go. Anyway, it was a great experience for him. And by the way, they allow 10 yr. olds to get their bird license, and you use a shotgun for that. Of course it will be his size, but he is much looking forward to that.

This was the actual picture of him firing.

In other news, he came home from school singing Bon Jovi yesterday. I couldn't be more proud. "Shot through the heart, and you're to blame. You give love a bad name."

1st Day of Pre-school

My baby Peanut started school today. I realize it's only 2 hrs., 3 days a week, but I got a little vaklempt over it. Tawk amongst yaselves. I'll give you a tawpic-Rhode Island is neither a road, nor an island.

In other news, while I was at the gym last night and dad was in charge, Jo Jo took a big bite out of a Maggi cube. They're chicken boullion cubes. They're wrapped in foil so they might look like candy to a one year old. B said he was freaking out, but he wouldn't let him give him his cup of juice or anything to get rid of the taste. GAG!

Pre-School Starts

My little Peanut starts pre-school tomorrow. I have mixed emotions. On the one hand it will be nice to run quick errands with one instead of 2. On the other hand, I can't believe he's big enough already. He was signed up last year, but funds got tight so I had to pull him out. He's pretty excited and since his last name is at the beginning of the alphabet, he gets the first snack day and share bag. He's gone through a zillion "spesel" things he wants to bring-now to narrow it down to ONE. It will be an exciting day.

This morning when we rode bikes to school Fall was in the air. JP decided it was time for a sweatshirt, especially since their first recess is in the morning. He was smart. Jo Jo was wrapped in a blanket in the bike trailer. It still feels cool. We'll see how it ends up today. I wouldn't mind if the weather started to change. That's what I love about where we live-we have seasons so when I start to get sick of one weather pattern, it changes.

I'll post some pre-school pictures tomorrow.

We drove about an hour and a half north Friday night to our friends cabin to stay the night. They are so awesome! They saved us from having to camp for the night. We needed to be up there for Bubba's first football game Sat. morning and it was so nice to not have to camp or drive up super early in the morning. So we drove another 20 or so min. to his game. He had a great time and it was really fun to watch. Our team won 28-0. I felt bad for the other team for not even scoring once. Oh well, it was only the first game. Afterwards, we went to lunch and then headed back towards home and found a place to fish. We were there for several hours, but alas, no fish again. Well, actually Bubba did catch a small one, but we had him throw it back. They were nibbling, just not biting. Jo Jo has discovered that he enjoys sitting in dirt, sand, bark, whatever is gross and running his hands in it and throwing it up in the air, mostly landing in his hair. He was DISGUSTING!! So we stripped his clothes off, wiped his hands as best we could and shook as much sand out of his hair as we could before puttting him in the car. Needless to say, he went straight into the tub when we got home.

Check out #76. He's pretty much a super star!

Way off in the distance is JP fishing. He's just kind of figuring out casting on his own.

Bubba's baby fish.

Peanut told me to take this picture of him climbing on the rock.

Yesterday before church Jo Jo was playing and got in the stuffed animal bucket. He also decided he really needed JP's sweatshirt on, and when he couldn't do it by himself all the way, dad helped out. I decided he was my little padouin.

Oh yeah, he was also eating a granola bar-on the carpet! Only the baby could get away with that.

School House Rock

Finally-pictures of school starting. This year was very exciting because they built a new building for our school and it happens to be directly across the street from our neighborhood. It really was only about 2 min. away before in the car. But this is so fun for them. It turned out to be a beautiful building. They have K-12 and so now instead of needing portables and borrowing a church a mile away for the high school, they have everyone in one big building. The grades 7 and up (I think we only have through 11th this year since it's new) are in their own wing and have their own cafeteria. The younger grades have the other half. And now we have a huge gym so they can have p.e. inside in the winter and our basketball and volleyball teams have somewhere to play. So we've been riding bikes to school this week. I decided I should ride with them this week to make sure they're safe, but I might just keep doing it. We were almost hit by a car yesterday, so now I don't know that I feel comfortable with them going alone. They installed school zone flashing lights and lowered the speed limit to 20 mph while they're flashing because there's a school across from it in our neighborhood. They painted a crosswalk there, but there are crazy people still not paying attention. The cars on one side stopped for us, but while we were in the center of the crosswalk a woman went flying by at 40 mph or so. I called the police dept. yesterday to ask them to put a cop there for the first week or so until people get used to it. So the Sgt. called me back and said he'd let the morning officer know and depending on call volume he would have one out there as much as possible. This makes me feel a little better.

So it's way too hot to ride home. Holy cow! It's in the 90's which I know some of you live in AZ and I shouldn't be complaining, but give me a break. I'm looking forward to it cooling down a bit. Spring is my favorite season, so it would be nice if the weather would decide to be like that.

The boys are enjoying their teachers. This year they decided to add another class to each grade level (we only had one each before). We weren't sure how we felt about it before. We liked the small school atmosphere. But it's okay because with them mixing the classes up, they have the chance to make new friends and break the old cliques that were causing problems for one of my boys. We already knew JP's teacher because she's the same one that Bubba had, but Bubba's teacher is new this year. She was way cool and has the coolest room decorated in Western style with a couch and bean bag and ottomans for reading. She has a huge library of books too. It makes me want to be in her class.
