Knock Knock Jokes, Goose Eggs, and Free Cookies

Um, yeah, so you know those free chocolate chip cookies they give at Albertsons to kids. So we went after school to get some ice and popsicles for our baseball treat today and each of the boys got one. Jo Jo was eating his really slowly, so I let him finish it in the car. When I got home, this is what I saw. It was even up his nostril, on his legs, and on one eyelid. He loved getting to sit in the sink to get cleaned up.

JP and Peanut went over to the little neighborhood playground this afternoon to eat popsicles. They came home and Peanut was screaming. He came in and said that JP pushed him. JP was starting to cry a little while he explained that Peanut had dropped his wrapper while they were at the top of the playset, and JP slipped on it and his foot knocked Peanut's legs out from under him, and he fell about 6 inches to the platform below right on his face. So poor little guy came home with a goose egg with a circle in the center of it (which he is now calling his "dot") and the outside of his eye is bruised. He looks like he was in a car accident. JP felt so bad about it and started to cry. I tried to re-assure him that it was an accident.

He was also telling me knock knock jokes today again.
P-Knock knock.
M-Who's there?
P-Orange.
M-Orange who?
P-Orange banana.

P-Knock knock.
M-Who's there?
P-Chicken.
M-Chicken who?
P-Chicken rice.
There were a couple more, but I can't remember what they were. They were along the same lines.

Migraines Are SOOO Lame!!!

Have you ever had a migraine? I don't mean a regular headache. I'm talking about a sharp, stabbing, drill a hole in my head to let out the pressure, seeing stars, dehabilitating migraine. Well, I get them often. It's reallly lame to go to bed with one and it's still there when you wake up in the morning. My mom has always gotten them, and I hear the bad ones like this are hereditary. Yay for me! Thanks for that mom. Anyway, I woke up with one today (that I went to bed with), and I ran out of prescription stuff awhile ago, so I had to take something over the counter. The only thing I've found that works is Excederin. Tylenol is too weak, ibuprofen only works for body aches, so I'm stuck taking Excederin. Normally, I don't take it because it keeps me awake, but I figured I could take some today since it was before noon. Well, I can't take two ever again. It makes me feel like I'm on speed. I got all shaky and sick to my stomach. I still haven't eaten anything or stopped shaking and it's 4 p.m. I guess I'll be calling my doctor to see if he'll give me something over the phone. I would never wish one of these on even my worst enemy.

Happy 11th Anniversary!!!

We celebrated our 11th anniversary yesterday. It hardly seems like that much time has gone by. I was so wishing we could be on a beach somewhere, or a cruise, but alas, it was not to be. Instead, my sister and her husband babysat so we could go out. We went to the mall so I could spend some birthday giftcards (because there was no way I was going to try on clothes with 2 kids during the week some time). Then we went and had dinner at Ruby River Steakhouse. We were the ONLY people in the entire restaurant! It was pretty cool. Butch told me that he rented out the entire place for us because that's the way he rolls. Truth be told, it must have been the combination of the holiday weekend and that it was 9 p.m. Then we went and saw the new Star Trek movie. It was absolutely excellent! Lots of action, emotion, and humor all wrapped together. We were talking about the things we'd done in 11 yrs. We've lived in 4 cities, had 9 different cars!, 4 fantastic kids, 3 houses, 4 colleges, 3 degrees, and TONS of laughter and love. It's been a fantastic ride so far and I'm looking forward to many more great years to come. I told B last night that these have definitely been the best and only happy 11 yrs. of my life!

At the same time, I've been going through a mid-life crisis. It seems since about my 28th birthday I've had problems with my birthday. I don't even seem to realize it co-incides with my birthday at first. But I think about when I was thinner and way more fun, and less wrinkled. I definitely used to be able to stay up later and do more and had more energy. I think I just really need a break from my kids for about a week. My mom will be here in a little over a week, and she's going to stay with the kids overnight while we go to the Anniversary Inn. That's a start, but I am SO needing a beach vacation somewhere quiet where the only sound I hear is the waves. Oh to dream...

Happy 9th Birthday Little Guy!!!!

Posted by Picasa

Happy Birthday to my Little Guy!! Born 3 and half weeks early and weighing in at 6 pounds, 15 oz. Screaming from the minute you came out until you were over a year old. You became known as Professor Grumpypants.

Broke his arm ON Christmas day when he was 2!

My little king pulling the sword out of the stone.

Sitting on the rocks next to the sign that says not to sit on the rocks! He! He!

Oh Bubba, sweet Bubba. I love that you still give me hugs and kisses sometimes even though you're getting too big and too cool to do that. You are such a great leader and wonderful example to your little brothers. You make me smile and exasperate me each day. You're the best!

Tenacious, loving, wild, fun, smart, motorcycles, fishing, camping, archery, bb gun, baseball, wants to be like dad, stubborn, strong, responsible, friends, kind, sharing, mostaccioli, always hungry, pop tarts, Bear scout, and totally awesome!!!

Father's and Sons

This year the Father's and Sons campout was on Bubba's birthday weekend again. I guess that's what he gets for being born during the anniversary of the restoration of the Aaronic Priesthood. Anyway, they went to the sand dunes just south of here. The boys had a great time sliding down the dunes on sleds. I guess the sleds didn't work very well, but someone had a boogy board that worked. Well, Bubba ate it one time about half way down and ended up with a mouth full and face full of sand. Eeew! Of course dad filmed it, but didn't get any photos. The only photo of the weekend is the one in our title spot. They stayed up late that night going to the observatory they have there and got to see Saturn and its rings and moons. I'm so jealous. Then they got up at the crack of dawn so they could get back in time for Bubba's game. None of the other LDS kids on his team thought that was important enough to show up for. We were extremely annoyed because only 8 kids showed and you can start with 8, but if you don't end up with 9, the game counts as a forfeit. Luckily, our coach got the director to approve the game with 8, so we won and it counted. It was a really good game. I think if you sign your kid up for a team sport, they need to be there. We've missed several pack meetings, including the Pinewood Derby, so that he could be there. Anyway, I'll get off my soapbox now. Poor dad was awake more than asleep all night. He's such an awesome dad since it's not as fun for him as it is for them, but he does it anyway because they love it.

Mother's Day and Other Stuff

JP got to play catcher at his last game.

I got my hair done Friday (finally) and I love it. The color turned out awesome. It's a "chocolate red" with a few violet highlights. I tried to take a picture so you could see the color well.

Hot dogs go in your hair...

And up your nose, but not in your mouth. Did you know that?

Happy Mother's Day to all! My boys brought me pancakes and bacon in bed. Then I got a card that sings the chicken dance (oh yay)which said<"Happy Mother's Day to the queen of the roost," and JP made me a cool pottery thing. Peanut gave me a cupcake cookbook (I'm so excited to try it out), and Bubba made me a book at school. It came with a CD of Louis Armstrong's song, "What a Wonderful World," and as we played the CD I would turn the pages of the book where he had written in cursive the words on the bottom and had drawn a picture of each phrase. I never realized how awesome his drawings are. The teacher had them bound, too. It made me cry as I looked at it. It was truly a surprise because he made it sound like he hadn't done anything for me. He also had drawn me a picture of the Eiffel Tower (for those of you who don't know I love everything French). I am SO blessed to have such wonderful, loving boys. They definitely treat me like the Queen! Their dad has taught them well, and their wives will be so lucky someday.

Tantrums

Have any of you had a child who head butts? I don't know how to get Jo Jo to stop doing it. He mostly does it to me, but he's gotten B a few times. He does it to my shins if I'm standing, my thigh if I'm sitting, my chest if he's in my lap, and occassionally to my head or mouth. Can I tell you how awesome it feels? I'm not sure if he'll eventually just grow out of it, or if there's something to do now that will help. I'm looking for any advice from you that may have had this problem. He also likes to throw tantrums by either throwing himself backward onto the floor (whacking his head on the tile in the process), or cracking his forehead on the floor. I'm trying to figure out if he's doing it for my attention or what. He gets really mad if I ever have one of the other boys in my lap, or hold them. What a spoiled boy. He could never be anything but the baby or he wouldn't survive.

I Don't Want My Picture Taken

He decided to draw a happy face-on himself-while we were coloring yesterday.
